Looking for vegan events and happenings in YYC? You’ve come to the right place. Check out this first installment of “What’s Vegan in YYC” after the jump! 🙂
YYC Pizza Week (Sept 23-Oct 2, 2016)
In support of Meals on Wheels Calgary and 100 Men Who Give a Damn, YYC Pizza Week is an annual charity event that takes place at various locations throughout the city for 10 days each fall. Check out this year’s vegan contenders, a tasty pie called “The Great Escape” from Veg-In YYC Cafe, and Village Flatbread’s entry “Tuscany” can be made vegan by ordering it with their vegan mozzarella. Two tasty ways to support some great Calgary organizations AND enjoy tasty vegan pizza.
There’s a whole lotta love on this flavourful #vegan pizza from @veginyyc! Find them on 6th Ave SE downtown! #yycfood #yyc pic.twitter.com/7ffjiisu3k

Roni’s Kitchen Meal Service (on-going)
Did ya hear, did ya hear? Roni’s Kitchen has launched a weekly meal service. Menus are released on every Thursday for pre-order, and they come delivered in these super cute totebags. <3 Visit roniskitchen.com/meals for more information.
Calgary Veggie Festival (Oct 1, 2016)
Celebrate World Vegetarian Day at the First Calgary Veggie Festival! Head down to the Chinese Cultural Centre between 11am and 6pm and check out a plethora of vegan options (not all items are vegan so make sure to check). Make sure to stop by the Vegfest Calgary booth early and you might be able to snag one of their limited edition VegFest Calgary t-shirts, with proceeds going towards next year’s vegan VegFest.
World Day for Farmed Animals (oct 2, 2016)
The World Day for Farmed Animals is “is dedicated to exposing the needless suffering and death of sentient animals raised and killed for food,” (dayforanimals.org)
The Alice Sanctuary’s World Farm Animal Day event is SOLD OUT, but there are other ways to honour our farm animal friends. Pledge to #FastAgainstSlaughter at dayforanimals.org/unite and help raise awareness about farm animal suffering.

That’s it for this week folks; make sure to check back next Monday for another installment of What’s Vegan in YYC.
I do my best to scour the web looking for items of interest to vegans in YYC, but I don’t always catch it all. So if you’re hosting an event, launching a new vegan business, option, or product, or you know about something that should be on this list, send it to info@veganinyyc.ca or you can leave info down in the comments.
